Besides energy saving, controllability is the next highly expected feature of LED Lighting over Traditional Lighting. However, such a control aspect seems to be missing in daily applications. Since 2015, we've been developing & marketing Phase Dimmers* and related products to address LED dimming control

Driven by our project field experience, we developed a new type of Tunable White control using Phase Dimming & 0-10V technologies, which gives our Tunable White Controller (DZ1G300TUNE) & Dynamic Lighting Controllers (DZ2G300TUNE_TOGG / _PUSH). It's our goal to lower the technical and costs barriers for different Circadian Lighting or Commercial applications that desire Multi-Purpose Lighting.

Dim-to-Warm by Phase Dimming Control

In the highly competitive catering and service industry being able to provide customers with an impressively comforting dining environment is an effective means to provide a positive experience of customers and to enhance branding and image of restaurants and cafes. In order to create a proper atmosphere to meet the many different functions in the restaurant, it would be great not only be able to adjust the light intensity but also to further adjust the interior Color Temperature (CCT), or to adapt the CCT to outdoor weather changes (sunny day or rainy day). 

Dim-to-Dark is about LED deep dimming performance. Dim-to-Warm is about getting different color temperature out of a lighting fixture as it is being dimmed. The quality of the CCT changeable COB inside the fixture and how stable and accurate for the driving current changes to reflect the linearity of the CCT changes are the critical success factors for the Dim-to-Warm application.

In this video, we utilize the same dimming control (DIMEZE™ 450W AC Phase Dimmer and Meanwell 16W PCD-16-350B) and by connecting to different fixtures, we can achieve Dim-to-Dark and Dim-to-Warm lighting effects together. Combining these lighting effects, we can easily create different scene settings for space at very low costs. In the video, the CCT changeable downlight produces 3000K CCT at its highest intensity level and gradually reaches to 2000K CCT (Warm White) to mimic dimming effect of Incandescent and Halogen lights as it's being dimmed. Before the end of the video, we've also pointed out an alternative product selection, which is to use standard CCT changeable LED GU10 light bulbs that may be suitable for the different scenario.

This solution is good for retrofit or new installation. End-user or Designers may also easily upgrade the dimmable LED MR16 to the rich lighting effects in order to realize their own ideas for space. Without complicated lighting control systems and with minimal wiring works, utilizing phase dimming to achieve light intensity and CCT control is cost effective and practical for F&B environment or for implementing Dim-to-Warm lighting effect at a given location for Commercial or Residential scenario. Compared to lighting control systems, the biggest value of this phase-dimming solution lies its implementation feasibility!
